Hallelujah!

3 Jan

You can hear it, right? That celestial sound of angels singing on high. You know why they’re singing, right? Because I bloody well finished painting the kitchen cabinets, that’s why. And let me tell you, the angels in heaven better sing because that was a…well, this is a family friendly blog, so let’s just say it rhymes with rich (which we are obviously not).

But it’s done and, if I may say so myself, it looks pretty good. (If you drink three glasses of pinot gris and squint, that is). After serious agonizing over the color, choosing the deep brown proved to be the right choice. It gives a wonderful warmth and richness to the kitchen. Plus, let’s be honest, it covered a lot of sins in those old cabinets, which upon closer inspection had really seen better days. And I must say I had plenty of time for close inspection.  I know the intimate details of all 22 doors and 20 drawers, not that anyone’s counting.

And so I don’t keep you waiting in agony, here’s the big reveal.  We went from this mess upon first moving in:

To this, a cleaned up and functional version:

100_1260

To this…’oh dear, which color do we choose’ version…

To….(are you ready for this?)

Right now, I am just so happy they are finished, imperfections and all. Tomorrow, look for a post on what I learned that you can use to make your cabinet painting much less painful. Off to sing the Hallelujah chorus!
